Grab a glass and take a liquid road trip through the spirit of America.

After traveling around this great nation and sampling many of the drinks on offer, cocktail authority Brian Bartels serves up a book that's equal parts recipe collection, travelogue, historical miscellany, bartender's manual, and guide to bar culture today--with bar and drink recommendations that are sure to come in handy whether you're crossing state lines or not.

Delving into the colorful stories behind the creation of drinks we love, this book includes more than 100 recipes alongside spirited analysis of each state's unique contributions to cocktail culture. Filled with colorful illustrations, The United States of Cocktails is an opinionated and distinctively designed love letter to the spirits, bars, and people who have created and consumed the iconic drinks that inspire us and satisfy our thirst.

This isn't just a recipe book; it's a cultural deep dive. You'll discover:

  • 100+ Authentic Recipes: Master the classics and discover regional gems you won't find in standard bar manuals.
  • Deep-Rooted History: Explore how local flora, immigration patterns, and quirky state laws birthed iconic drinks.
  • Insider Access: Tales from legendary bartenders and dives that have kept the neon lights burning for decades.
  • Local Lore: Why does Wisconsin love Brandy Old Fashioneds? What makes the Sazerac the soul of New Orleans?

Whether you're a professional mixologist or a home enthusiast looking for the perfect conversation starter, The United States of Cocktails is your essential guide to the traditions and tastes that make the American bar a true melting pot.

Foreword by Brad Thomas Parsons, award-winning American author, writer, and speaker specializing in spirits and cocktail culture.
